Lion City Hotel Kızılay

October 2023 Fantastic hotel in the heart of the dynamic Kizilay district of Ankara surrounded by hundreds of restaurants, cafés, shops, ATMs. Excellent rooms, smoking rooms are always on the top floors so we had a good street view. They don't have tea/coffee in the room, instead you call up anytime day/night and you can order: Turkish coffee, Nescafe coffee, Turkish tea (çay), or English tea. It's not the highest quality, but it's nice to sip and watch the people going by. The staff are BRILLIANT. They speak relatively good English and gave superb recommendations, directions, and our taxis were waiting every time on the dot. You can take a very easy, pleasant walk to the Atatürk Mausoleum from the hotel. We caught the train to Ankara, and simply caught the Metro straight to Kizilay and walked a few minutes to the Hotel. They stored our bags for free while we took a trip to Malatya and had the same room ready for us when we returned. STRONGLY recommend Lion City Hotel Kizilay.

Friendly and effective personnel at the reception, in a pleasant environment interior. The room was very comfortable and large enough to accommodate our luggage, equipped with all necessary tables, chairs, fridge and wardrobe. Italian-style shower with doors worked perfectly. Despite COVID-19 constraint, breakfast was abondant and served by kind personnel. Our car could be parked in the hotel valet service with security. We appreciated being able to walk only five minutes to reach shopping street, take a bus or underground. Plenty of coffee shops and restaurants around as well. Without hesitation we would be pleased to recommend staying at this hotel.

Rooms are very good size and clean, cheap price, good breakfast, good service from all the staff free tea and coffee The only bad thing about it is the elevator size and theres only one Overall its worth it and the location is very good. Edit: after some days my review some issues started to happen 1st was the internet that was constantly not working and was slow 2nd the door lock were not working so we had change the keys 3 the elevator stopped working.

This review is more for breakfast than the room - although the toilet roll holder not being attached and the smoke detector with its battery out in the draw weren’t great. Overall the room was good. However breakfast… The rolls at breakfast were in individual plastic bags, the cups/glasses were cardboard with wax coating and water was available in plastic tubs!! There is no excuse - bread is fresh, cheap & available everywhere in Turkey, the hotel has crockery and glassware please use it and get a water dispenser. This is the capital Ankara - set a good example please

It’s a very clean, tidy, nice looking and a cheap priced place. And it’s very conveniently placed location in kizilay it’s basically close to everything you ever need. The staff are nice and tea and coffee is free. I’ve come here 4 times in the past 5 months but every time I visited the internet broke it just wouldn’t connect or the signal was too low. I was ok with it but it’s been happening for my 4 visit… the breakfast was tasty and clean but the way it’s served is no good at all, they just serve you a plate of food with no drinks (you have to pay for the drinks) but the breakfast area is so dark and depressing…. it has a very small elevator (not a big problem though) other than that the reason why I gave 2 stars is because my visit this time the WiFi completely stopped, the door lock system broke so I had to leave my door unlocked all night… it couldn’t even be locked I was ok with it all until the elevator broke too, though it’s a very well mannered and clean place it’s really needs some attention especially with the wifi, breakfast area and the things in the room it needs at least some coffee/tea or at least a better shampoo. the air conditioners are slow they need to improve but the bathrooms are clean so no need to talk about the hygiene. Im not saying this because I don’t like the hotel, Im only saying these because this hotel has the potential to become a 4 star hotel if all these things get solved and would like to visit again without the inconveniences.
